Dr. Gail Weingast, Ultrasound and Radiology

Dr. Gail Weingast knew she needed a surplus of knowledge and education that would be provided by a Medical Degree. Originally, she wanted to be able to help children. Dr. Gail Weingast would later have the opportunity to perform residencies and fellowships in Ultrasound and radiology as well which would end up changing her career path and also inspire her for her next field of interest.
To start, Dr. Gail Weingast knew the importance of an education in order to excel in the medical field and began attending Jackson College, Tufts University, in Medford, Massachusetts, starting in 1969. At Tufts University, she majored in Spanish and received her Bachelor of Arts degree. After receiving her degree, she then enrolled in Boston University’s School of Medicine to earn her medical degree. In 1976, she received her Medical Degree.
Her career was then founded and developed while she worked at Colorado General Hospital for a number of years, serving in several different positions in several different departments. She was in the field of pediatrics from 1976-1977. Then she had a residency in Pediatrics at the same hospital over the following two years. She then did a residency in the Radiology department from 1980 to 1983, directly followed by a fellowship in the field of Ultrasound in 1983. Today, Dr. Gail Weingast is a radiology specialist at William W. Backus Hospital, in Norwich, Connecticut. She currently serves as the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging. This allows her to help guide the department using her decades of knowledge and experience.
